Seeing No Error – Nothing in time and space is really free, because the ego made it. This is the ego’s world. This linear, fragmented world of division and separation is hell. There must be a deep clearing and emptying of the mind, a deep purification of all ego goals, values, concepts, and allowance of the darkness to come up to reach a state of mind that is joined with the Holy Spirit. This mind knows only innocence, sees only innocence, and sees no error. Any darkness in the mind does need to be released. Once this purification has occurred, all the love and gratitude in our hearts will naturally begin to pour out.
What Is the Authority Problem in ACIM? – Issues that come up in parenting reflect the authority problem. The ego’s thought system rejects God as its Author and wants to assert its own free will, control, and authority. We are here to be givers. It is a state of mind that shares true generosity and holds the same loving attitude towards everyone we meet or think of.
The Spirit’s purpose for this life is for freedom, to wake up from the dream of the world, not to attain and achieve. The ego’s use of the body, of family and education, is for reinforcing a personal separate identity. But you are Spirit and must unlearn everything the ego has taught you. Your only responsibility is accepting the correction. It is not about dropping worldly responsibilities, but having them all handed to Spirit who would address them through a path of miracles. David says the Course can be summed up in the Serenity Prayer, recognizing what you can and cannot control and the wisdom to know the difference. What you can control is your state of mind. What you cannot control is the world, and everything associated with the world. Have gratitude and appreciation for everybody, because they are helping you to forgive.
The more you give yourself over to the joy of the Spirit, the more you see that your Plan Bs avail you nothing. The world’s mantra that we need to plan for the future and be prepared for all situations is not our real concern. Our real fear is present joining. As we give up our little plans and align our mind with the Spirit’s plan, we experience life as a joyful, spectacular unfolding.
In your complete willingness to forget the things you think you need, Heaven can finally be remembered. True prayer is described by Jesus in The Song of Prayer as having many levels, like rungs on a ladder, which lead from the early forms of praying for specifics to more advanced forms of prayer. The highest form of prayer is what Jesus calls “true prayer,” which involves a total willingness to “forget the things you think you need.” S-1.I.4:1 For, “You have sought first the Kingdom of Heaven, and all else has indeed been given you.” S-1.I.3:6 Pray only to serve God’s Will.
