Judgment—Guidance, the Holy Spirit’s Use of Judgment

Guidance is the Holy Spirit’s use of judgment. Our judgments are not true and never have been true. Jesus points out in the Course that, “I do not perceive my own best interests” (W-24), and “Everything is for your own best interests.” W-pI.25.1:5 It is a fundamental perceptual problem to break everything into situations. You can control the direction of your thinking and have it aligned with the Holy Spirit. In that lies your salvation, joy, and happiness.

“Judgment upholds illusions. Judgment upholds concepts because they are the same. The Holy Spirit can use anything the ego made and the ego made judgment. That must mean that the Holy Spirit can use judgment if the ego made it. What is the Holy Spirit’s use of judgment? It’s guidance. It is so good! Someone asked, “What have you been doing the last 25 years?” Guidance. Guidance. Every day is guidance. Go here, go there, travel, speak, share, shine, make websites.

If you found an experience of true freedom, wouldn’t you want to give it away? Wouldn’t you want to set all the captives free with it? Why would you keep it? If you found actual authentic freedom, you would want to shine it and share it and extend it in any way that you could, and that is what the last 25 years of the parable of David have been about. That is what different ones coming to me is about; they are attracted to that Love extending, and that is the way that you actually keep Love in your awareness, by giving it away. If you try to bottle it up and hold it or you try to sell it, you aren’t going to stay in the awareness of it, because it is meant to be extended. Without judgment the world would disappear. We would have the disappearance of the universe in pure stillness, pure Presence.”
